Pump Station Rebuild at Nursing Home in Wakefield
We recently completed a pump station rebuild at a nursing home in Wakefield after severe corrosion caused critical failure within the existing pipework. The original steel pipework had deteriorated significantly, with multiple holes developing that affected system reliability and required urgent replacement works. Working alongside Quest Drainage Tankers, our team replaced the damaged infrastructure and restored the pump station to safe working condition.
- Pump Station Rebuild Completed
- Severe Corrosion Identified
- 3” Steel Pipework Replaced
- ABS Pipework Installed
- ABS Pipework Installed
- Works Completed with Tankering Support
The Brief
We were called to attend a nursing home site in Wakefield following failure within a pump station caused by extensive corrosion to the existing steel pipework. The deterioration had progressed to the point where pipe sections had burst, creating an urgent requirement for replacement works to restore system integrity. The objective was to rebuild the affected pipework sections and return the pumping system to reliable operation as quickly as possible.
What We Did
- System Inspection & Assessment Attended site to investigate the pump station failure and identified severe corrosion within the existing 3” steel pipework.
- Removal of Failed Pipework Removed the damaged pipe sections where corrosion had caused multiple holes and system failure.
- ABS Pipework Installation Installed replacement pipework using ABS materials to improve durability and long-term reliability.
- Pump Station Rebuild Works Carried out rebuilding works within the station to restore safe and functional operation.
- Coordination with Tankering Support Worked alongside Quest Drainage Tankers to support the works and maintain safe site conditions during the repair process.
- System Restoration Completed works to return the pump station to operational condition and ensure continued service for the nursing home.
Testing & Commissioning
Following completion of the rebuild works:
- Replacement pipework was installed successfully
- System integrity restored
- Pump station returned to operational condition
- Site support maintained throughout work
Summary
This pump station rebuild at a nursing home in Wakefield demonstrates the importance of addressing corrosion-related failures quickly to prevent further disruption to critical wastewater infrastructure. By replacing failed steel pipework with durable ABS components and coordinating with specialist tankering support, the system was restored safely and efficiently.
